Laboratory Experiment #1 Purpose: The goal of this lab is to better understand these fluid properties by completing six lab sections. The fluid properties mention in lab 1 are: Density, specific gravity or specific weight using a hydrometer and a hydrometric or Westphal balance Absolute and kinematic viscosity using a Brookfield (rotation viscometer and an Ostwald or capillary viscometer Surface tension using a tension meter Density of fluid using a U-tube manometer The objective for each lab sections: a. Hydrometers- find the specific weight () [N/m3] and the density () [kg/m^3] in both SI and English units (lb.ft^3 and slugs/ft^3). Identifying the given two fluids from the table on in the lab manual. b. Westphal Balance- Obtain the specific gravity of Amoco White Mineral Oil #5NF and determine the mean and the standard deviation. c. Dynamic Viscosity- Brookfield LV model is dynamic Viscosity (), and calculating percent errors. d.
