PURPOSE OF EXPERIMENT: The purpose of the experiment is to determine the discharge in several flows by measuring a pressure difference and applying the Bernoulli equation and the equation of continuity. Venturi Meter: For part one, using pipes one or two for three different speeds you must determine: the height difference (h), the Q i values using the Bernoulli and continuity equations, the mean height difference (h m ), the real Q r values using the mean velocity, the discharge correction coefficient (C v ), and the Reynolds number for the throat of the meter. For part two on the Venturi meter, using the same tube as part one, you must determine: the Q r values from the Hastings electronic flow meter, the discharge correction coefficient (C v ), and the corresponding Reynolds numbers. Orifice Meter: Using pipe three, determine: the height difference (h), Q i , Q r from the Hastings mass flow meter, the discharge correction coefficient (C v ), the Reynolds number, and plot the C vs. Reynolds number.
