SIKHISM – means student I. BACKGROUND & ORIGINS A. HINDUISM & ISLAM IN INDIA – it’s the present of Hinduism and Islam created Sikhism which is the both combined. The area is still in a conflict. B. PUNJAB, NW INDIA CONFLICT C. SANTS KABIR 1440-1518 D. GURU NANAK 1469-1539 (MARDANA) – there were ten guru, guru nanak was the first. He was a Hinduism. He was married had children. One day he went to a forest and he experienced with god directly. he was auguring that there was only one god that they were both believing in and that they should get over the conflicts. He was trying to get rid of discrimination. II. BELIEFS & WORLDVIEW REINCARNATION & KARMA – they borrowed this from Hinduism. A. GOD – he borrowed this from Islam. He believed that god was already in everyone and in everything. Doesn’t believe that god as any shape or form. But you can mystical experience god within yourself. B. ETHICS – they promote truth, social, and etc. They want to help anyone that is poor and needs up. They promote equality. They believe in justice and fairness.
