1 TAOISM The two traditions would be Taoism and Confucianism. Confucianism is like harmony with society where as Buddhism is harmony with nature. I. THE LEGEND OF LAOZI - Laozi means “old master”. A. LIFE 604 BCE he is 50 years older than Confucist. He questioned the government and society. He went home. People said that he is a wise person. B. FLIGHT WEST AGE 80 - one day, he decided to leave society and went west. He was stopped by gate keeper. And tell him to write down all of his wisdom. C. TAO TE CHING “the way of the Tao” it was publish 300 years later. It describes the Tao. II. THE TAO “THE WAY, ROAD OR CHANNEL” it is an a attepnt to explain the nature and order. The answer is the present of the Tao. Tao is the function of nature how its together. A. WAY OF ULTIMATE REALITY - the tao is a mystery it is a B. WAY OF THE UNIVERSE 1. ENERGY FORCE OF NATURE 2. PRINCIPLE BEHIND ALL LIFE 3. INEXHAUSTIBLE SPIRIT - energy cant be destroy it, it can change forms, you can’t create it. 4.
