Physical development: How much did the baby weigh when born? 8 Lbs 3oz length? 20 in. long How much does he/she weigh now? 40 Lbs. What do you notice in regards to this child about the cephalocaudal principle? he has the ability to walk without falling down but he still lacks complete control of his head. (?!) The proximodistal principle ? the proportion of proximodistal growth seems to be right on track. His chest is solid, he no longer has the chunky baby belly, and His arms are firming up but his fingers are still short and stubby, but that may be due to genetics. (the mother has short stubby fingers) he has good control of his arms and hands. Which of the following reflexes did you observe? Startle- he still startles, only now that he is 2, his reflex is to get wide eyed then immediately cry. moro- does not exhibit this reflex babinski- does not exhibit this reflex blinking- blinks, sometimes more than necessary. (may be due to autism.) rooting- does not exhibit this reflex sucking- remains gagging - remains walking/stepping- no longer exhibits this reflex. How much does the child sleep? Appr . 9 ½ hours waking up about 4 times throughout the night. Is REM noticeable? Yes. REM is visually noticeable. Can the child: wiggle/lift head?_ yes__ rollover? _yes__ hold rattle? _yes__ push up? _yes__ move in some directions? _yes__ sit? _yes__ crawl? _yes__ stand? _yes__
