Text me at 613-6654 Instructor’s Notes: I am available for a conference with you by appointment during the semester, before or after class on the class meeting days. The best way to contact me is via email . I will try to answer all emails within 24 hours. The instructor considers this syllabus to be an implied contract with the students. By taking this course the student accepts the terms of the contract. Every student should read through the syllabus carefully at the onset of this course and ask questions if clarification is needed on any point. Keep this syllabus handy and refer to it often during the semester. Required Text: Development Across the Life Span, Fifth Edition; however if you have the Fourth Edition, that text will also work for this class Time Required: You should be prepared to spend 15-20 hours per week studying the course material and completing class projects. Course Description : Human Growth and Development is an interdisciplinary scientific study of the ways people change over time. It covers both quantitative and qualitative changes from con-caption to death and stresses the process of life stage changes from physical, cognitive and social-cultural aspects. Primary Goal: The primary goal of this course is to provide information which enables students to identify, analyze, and understand the social, mental, psychological and physical aspects of human culture and development. Student email: Vol State provides a free email account to every registered student. This email will be utilized by the instructor during the term for important reminders, assignments and communications. Students are expected to utilize their student email accounts during the semester. Withdrawal from class: The last day to withdraw from the class has been set by the admissions office. After that date, students will no longer receive a grade of “W” on their transcripts. A student who stops attending and does not follow the college’s withdrawal procedures will remain on the class roll and the grade will be reported as “F”.
