A 75-year-old woman and her 9-year-old granddaughter were victims of a train crash. In both cases, trauma to the chest was sustained. So if the two were to sustain the same trauma to the chest, it would affect the 75 year old womans bones more than the 9 year olds. The 75 year old would be more apt to break bones because of the loss of calcium in the bones due to her age. The 9 year old has plenty of calcium in her bones, so her bones can withstand more pressure with out breaking....
