Chapter 13 – Program Evaluation A Recap Planning o Identifying desired goals o Selecting activities and programs to achieve those goals Evaluating of performance at different levels o Individual – performance appraisal Value processes – compare in between individuals; incentives Developmental Evaluative o Unit/department – program evaluation Macro perspective of whats happening in the unit How the individuals are impacting the unit o Organization – organizational effectiveness Programs defined o Organized, purposeful activity with a set of resources (both human and financial) directed toward a common goal o Usually under the direction of a manager or management team o A program is the manifestation of the planning process o Activities we develop to achieve specific goals that we set Programs vs. projects o Planned and executed in similar ways o One significant difference: A program is a set of activities carried out on a continuing basis A project is carried out just one time with no intention of continue it
