Virtue as an Idea By Garrett Koos   “Virtue isn’t something to be defined, really.   It’s something to be lived…. .When you  have   to   start   asking   what   virtue   is,   that’s   a   sure   sign   you’ve   stopped   being  virtuous.”(Pg.14)  So is what is virtue, is it different from person to person?  Virtue cant  be easily defined by anyone person, or even a group of people.   Virtue cannot be  created by a society or by a single person, nor can it be a social construction. Do societies use virtue as a social construction, or merely as guidelines to form a set of  rules to follow.  To answer this question virtue would first have to be defined.  Is virtue  doing what’s right versus what’s wrong.  What is right and what is wrong?  Is it right to lie  to someone close if its to protect them or make them feel better?  To my family, any lie,  no matter how small or what the intentions are, the lie is wrong and not necessary.  To  my family, a lie would be considered vice.  However, someone from Japan may think that
