What is Moderation? Garrett Koos Moderation, as Wikipedia defines, is the process of eliminating or lessening extremes. What defines the extremes that moderation attempts to lessen? According to Korean word for moderation, having two meanings, means for one to endure. The other meaning is to regulate and filter one’s desires. If we take this into real life, in order to achieve certain desires, we have to endure through them. For example, even though I desire to graduate college, I have to endure through all of the homework through all 4 years. In order to achieve this desire, I have to filter other desires, and regulate how I’m going to achieve my desire of graduating college. Since this is the case, extremes can be defined as one’s desires, and to live moderately is to regulate and filter your desires.
