CHEN 4520 Chemical Process Synthesis Fall 2011 Homework 2 Problem 3 Producing Process Flow Diagrams with Microsoft Visio 50 points possible due Friday September 9, 2011 Grader: Israel Microsoft Visio 2010 is installed in the ITLL. This program is NOT available in the ITS student computing labs (i.e. Borgmann). Launch Visio 2010 from the start menu select All Programs Microsoft Office Microsoft Visio 2010. Select the Flowchart category of drawing from the Template Catagories window that appears initially. There are four template choices, choose the Basic Flowchart (US units) and click Create. A blank drawing window should appear with collections of master shapes to the left under various categories, like More Shapes Engineering Process Engineering Equipment, etc.

CHEN 4520 Chemical Process Synthesis Fall 2010 2 Notice that the default scale size of the drawing is 8.5”X11”. You can rescale this to different sizes by selecting Design Page Setup Size from the toolbar. You can also scale the drawing to a printer page when you print it out using File Print Print Size to fit on one sheet. Leave it as it is for the moment. A grid guide shows up on the drawing at a spacing of 1/8". This can be adjusted using View Show and change the grid spacing. In the Shapes box on the left, select More Shapes Engineering Process Engineering Equipment – Vessels (US units)
