Print Name: ______________________________________________ Problem # 6 (20 %) Estimate Total Capital Investment (TCI) You are asked to estimate the total capital investment (TCI) of a proposed market development plant for the manufacture of liquid product C, produced from the reaction of liquid reactants A and B, i.e. A+B C. The equipment is to be purchased in the year 2010 (M&S Factor = 1461; CE factor = 556); assume cost factors are good for relative purchased costs as well as relative installed costs). In the process, reactant A is supplied from an upstream pipeline while reactant B is to be held in a proposed 1000 gallon storage tank (T-1). Reactant B will be pumped (P-1) from the storage tank to the reactor feed line. The reaction occurs in reactor (R-1) with all of the reactant A consumed. Product C and excess reactant B are fed to a packed column (C-1) where product C is taken off overhead, downstream of condenser (H-1). Excess reactant B is taken from the bottom of the column through reboiler (H-2) and is recycled back to the reactor using
