Unformatted text preview: Lab 7: Designing and Measuring a CommonCollector Amplifier Daniel Sawyer Partner: Eric Herrera Monday, April 4 Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to design a common amplifier circuit based off a given set of specifications and observe its behaviors. The behavior of this circuit was predicted with both hand calculations and simulations, then it was tested with measurements. Materials: Kit Part # Spice Part Name Part Description Symbol Name (used in schematics throughout this lab manual) 2N3904 Q2N3904 NPN Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT) Q1 Resistor R To be determined in prelab R1 Resistor R To be determined in prelab R2 Resistor R To be determined in prelab RC Resistor R To be determined in prelab RE Table 1.1: This table is composed of materials used during experiment 3A Background information: Equation 1 – Voltage Gain Equation Beta = Ic/Ie Equation 2: Beta Equation Ie = Ic + Ib Equation 3: Transistor voltage equation Rin(AC) = V in / I in Equation 4: Input Resistance Equation Rout(AC) = V out / I out Equation 4: Output Resistance Equation Experimental Procedures: 1.1 Bias Point Verification The first part of this experiment involved measuring the basic components of the circuits and there values. First the resistances of each of the resistors was measured using a DMM and recorded. Next the circuit below was constructed: VE <Doc> <RevCode> <Title> A 1 1 Monday, October 27, 2008 Title Size Document Number...
