Beth White PubHlth 160 – My Body, My Health February 25, 2011 Journal 4 – Substance Use/Abuse Zoomass Slamherst. After I decided I wanted to go to UMass and sent in my deposit, that was the first thing someone told me about the school. Just those two words. They may only be two words, but they convey so much more. If you look up UMass Amherst on urbandictionary.com, you get a plethora of interesting answers. Some excerpts from the number one definition include: “The location leads to the insane amount of partying that occurs…” “UMass Amherst (also known as Zoomass or Zoomass-Slamherst) was rated #9 party school in the country [academic year 05/06]…” The second most popular definition includes such phrases as: “Kids pregame harder than most kids party and parties are bigger on a Monday night than they would at any other school on any given Friday or Saturday night.” “Our pride for the Red Sox is so strong that we are willing to flip over cars to demonstrate the love we have for our team and our alcohol consumption may lead to problems later in life.
