Lindsey Duff LAS 208B 10/17/11 Latin America in the News Following news throughout this semester was an amazing experience in learning the current events of the world. Particularly in Latin America, I have gained immense respect for the country and learned of many social and political changes currently happening. Most of the articles I chose were readings I would not have normally taken the time to read. I had a good mix of topics ranging from sports, to politics, to drugs, and to tourism. Since I play on the women’s club soccer team, my initial reaction was to focus on sports stories. I was particularly interested in the FIFA World Cup that is taking place in Brazil. One concern that the article mentioned was that the construction on the stadiums are behind schedule. I really hope that the stadiums are built on time because I would love to visit Brazil during the World Cup. I liked reading about the huge soccer following that seemingly all of Latin America has because it is one sport that the United States does
