DB Notes CH 7: Media Lists I. What are they- accurate and comprehensive media lists are critical to the success of a campaign because in order to be effective, it must reach the right people. a. Bridge between sender and receiver b. Compilation of data about the news media that cover the industry or field of an organization c. Includes: c.i. Name c.ii. Editor c.iii. Producer c.iv. Beat or topics of interest c.v. Name of affiliated media outlet and its address c.vi. Phone number c.vii. Fax c.viii. Email d. Media lists are comprised of the media contacts necessary for a specific campaign. e. Often medium specific II. Media directories- published sourcebooks that are available to the general public for a fee. Contain contact info for lots of media outlets nationally or regionally. III. Who gets media lists? a. Its simply a tool used contact the right people so the message can reach the intended audiences. b.
