Management 302 Midterm 2 Study Guide Chapter 7- Project Management Project Management Project- series of related jobs usually directed toward some major output and requiring a significant period of time to perform Project Management- the management activities of planning, directing, and controlling resources (people, equipment, material) to meet the technical, cost, and time constraints of a project Business Examples o Construction o Ad Campaign o Special Events (Super Bowl) o Process Change o o Alliances o Ex- Horror movies be released before Halloween not after Network Planning Models o Critical Path Method Used when activity times are known with certainty Used to determine timing estimates for the project, each activity in the project, and slack time for activities o Steps in CPM 1. Activity Identification (which activity needs to be done) a. Any time consuming element of a project with identifiable beginning and end points that contribute directly to the deliverables b. Beware of activities not requiring resources b.i. Getting a sheet signed off- how long will it sit on desk 2. Activity Sequencing (which one comes first) a. Walk through project in your mind b. What activities must be finished before we can start this
