Jonathan Grant POLI 210.002 Dr. Jackson 10/2/09 A political machine is an organization with a high authority of power. They persuade their members and future supporters by equipping them with incentives to act the way the machine wants them to act. Incentives such as money and political jobs are given out abundantly to lower and middle working class. There are benefits that do arise from the process of a political machine. They are pro-individual and all for the progression of the individual. Their efforts create more involvement from people of society’s population that do not normally get involved. The machines are very successful because they apply themselves, obviously, to the majority of civilization. The New Jersey Democratic machine has recently been involved in corruption cases that threaten the entire state. The charges entail the laundering of money, bribes, and mysterious contracts for emerging ambitions. The majority of the wrong-doers arrested were from North New Jersey and Brooklyn. This was called the biggest corruption situation in current history of
