Unformatted text preview: Marvin Gaye There are drums, and a lot of strings but I can’t seem to tell what instrument exactly. Marvin Gaye’s vocals are so much more dominate than the backup vocals, unlike Gladys Knight and the Pips. This sounds a lot more modern that Gladys Knights version because the vocals are so much clearer and the instruments are so sharp and exact. The drums are so clear and have a definite attack. They are harsh and the volume of them is much louder than Gladys Knights. The electric piano is the other instrument that I can clearly hear in the beginning and throughout the song just like the Gladys Knight version. I can hear other string instruments but it seems like there are a bunch of them. When listening to this, I can picture myself in the same room in close proximity. The overall track is strong and crisp. The vocals are also louder but the instruments don’t sound faded into the back....
