Posting Your Website to the ISys 201 Web Server r: 4/4/11 1. Connecting to the ISys 201 Web Hosting Service To complete your HTML project, you must post your project to a web server. We have set up a web server for 201 projects. You may also use a different hosting service for your project. To connect to the ISys 201 server, open a web browser and go to http://www.isys201.com . Figure 1 shows a screenshot of the ISys 201 web server page. Figure 1 – ISys 201 Web Server Home Page Log into the web server by clicking on the “Log In” link in the upper right corner of the page. You will be directed to the BYU log in screen (Figure 2), where you will log in using your Route-Y NetID and password. Figure 2 – BYU Log In Screen

2 2. Uploading Files to the Web Server While uploading files to the server is not difficult, there are a few things to keep in mind before you upload your web page files to the web server. 1. Debug locally first. Make sure that your project is working correctly on your computer first before you upload the files to the web server. Ensure that all pictures, backgrounds, links, and other media elements work as you designed them. 2. Gather all of your project files into a single folder. As we discussed in class, it is best to keep all of your files in one folder. This not only helps you keep all of your files in one place, but it will help ensure that your pictures, backgrounds, links and other media will work after you put them on the server. 3. Rename your main (home) page file as “index.html” (see figure 3). This is very important! The web server looks for the “index” file and will display it as the default home page when someone first visits your website. Figure 3 – Rename Main Page to “index.html” Once you are logged into the ISYS 201 HTML Project page, you can upload your web files to the web server. To upload your files, click on “Site\Manage Your Site” (Figure 4).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
