Nicholas Connolly FSW 281-B Ms. Daugherty 09/08/2011 Exercise #1 I interviewed my mother first to see her expectations of having my older brother, which was her first child. She said that she expected it to be a long, grueling, but beautiful experience. She was pretty nervous because she had read and heard about how painful the first three months can be with morning sickness, which included a lot of throwing up, and nausea. My mother was excited to have a child with my father because she was ready to start her family. Since my mom wasn’t working, she didn’t have to step away or take time off from her job. She said that if she did have a career it would have been very difficult for her because taking time off would be hard, along with going back to work would be harder due to spending time away from her first child. Since my mom is the youngest of seven and has 4 older sisters who already had children, she asked them and her own mother questions and talked to them about their experiences often. Aside from talking with her mom and sisters, she read the book, “What to Expect, when
