Nicholas Connolly MIS 235-N 12/1/2009 Problem Solving Assignment The business world has become more and more competitive over the years and with that businesses need to adapt by becoming more effective and efficient. One of the areas that needs to be up to date at all times is the supply chain. The supply chain is what businesses use to get their product from point A to point B and any flaw can cause the business to go under. Northwinds is reducing shipping costs both from their supplier and to their customers, and need to decided whether or not building an additional warehouse would be best for the company. Reducing costs would most likely increase the number of transactions leading towards an increase in demand. The result of this would improve customer satisfaction and increase sales, but an additional warehouse is not solution to this problem. Instead the best way to handle the increasing amount of inventory is by changing the way Northwinds handles their supply chain process. Adopting models like Dell and
