Jeffrey- YES National and international efforts to promote economic development have been very successful with the exception of subsarahan Africa which is trapped in extreme poverty Gives a lot of examples of how other countries have succeeded. Development assistance as a tool for economic development Both public and private contributions Aid has worked in conjunction with powerful market forces, most importantly international trade and investment—the forces of globalization have helped to spread the benefits of advanced technologies to all corners of the world. Aid should not be seen as a substitute for market led development but rather a as a complementary component of market forces Us commitments to economic development and poverty reduction Us knows that they cannot be the only ones helping developing countries, must be a shared global effort. The MDGs constitute a very important instrument for effective US development assistance for the following reasons:
