EGO -doesn't replace the ID just adds on -ego helps the ID -ego is trying to get what the ID wants -operates on the reality principle -takes on account the situation the person is in -aspect of rationality or compromise -does not worry about good or bad. -more worried about consequences SECONDARY PROCESS THINKING -more rational and prudent -coming up with strategy SUPER EGO -developed by the age of 5 -part of our personality that we take on from our parents environment -the rule part of our mind
