Shane Swaby 10-16-11 Dr. Sanon Synthesis Paper #6 Aids and Accusations With years of being in slavery and be penalized because the color of their skin, blacks, to be more specific Haitian blacks, have yet to be reconciled from their tortures. It is yet another burdened occurring with the accusations to the people of Haitian decants to be the sole carries of this mysterious disease called AIDS. “AIDS among Haitians was in the words of North American researchers, a complete mystery” (pg 2) accusations started to come from the use of Vodou, stating that AIDS was in relations to the Haitian practices of Vodou. This practice was said to be done around ritual fires; Massachusetts Institution of Technology “said that it seems reasonable to consider Vodou practice a cause of the syndrome” (pg 2). With AIDS effecting Haitians everywhere, even those who moved to the United States and Canada to be Haitian and lived in New York, were said to be the carries of the disease.
