M4E Directions: Following is an idea that was used in a south Florida middle school. Read through the contract. Is this something you could use in your classroom? Would you use the contract as shown or would you make any adjustments for use in your classroom? I think this contract is geared towards an elementary/middle school student. I think adjustments would need to be made on a high school level, such as removing the work “recess”. I think the high school students would like the three basic requirements concerning learning simple terms or words in their buddy’s language. I would also change the title and term from “World Buddy” to a title such as “World Friend” for the high school level. When these adjustments were made I think the contract would have the potential to be successful on the high school level. World Buddy Contract As a World Buddy, I ___________, will be understanding and helpful to my friend, ___________. I will help him or her learn the English language and American culture while I learn about his or her country, language, and culture. For
