40 Word Story There was once a slothful sprite who spent her days lounging lazily on her sofa instead of flittering amongst the rest of her flower fairy elf-kin. This stripling was quite an attractive female, as far as elves were concerned. However, she was quite the somnolent sprite, and sleeping in superfluity, her days drifted away. She lay in a stationary position, seldom and sporadically moving from this sedentary pose and was, to the embarrassment for herself of all that heard her, sonorous like a stentorian snoring great elephant. This earned her the sobriquet “Dumbo”, though her true name was Lowla. One day, Lowla’s parents became so rueful because of their daughter’s slothful attitude (and because, at this rate, their daughter would never find a suitable husband with whom to produce any scion) that they finally agreed to seek the sapient savant for his wisdom. This fairy was more sagacious than any other fairy, and often doled out advice to the other wood creatures. He
