According to Timothy Page (2007) “ Attachments are the internalized bonds that form in attachment relationships”(p.3). Attachments are considered the bonds developed from the interactions between an infant andcaregiver that carry on through to adulthood. These bonds are formed based off of the needs of safety, vulnerability and protection for the child. From an attachment theory perspective, Tiffani’s presenting problem isbased off of her inability to form or maintain positive healthy relationships due to her past trauma. According to Timothy Page ( 2007) “ Attachment systems become activated in conditions of vulnerability”( p.3).Tiffani was molested by people she trusted and the people she trusted the most ( her parents) failed to protect her when she was most vulnerable. “While attachment theory is often associated with infants and young children, current studies have sought to examine the activation of the attachment system in adulthood at times of stress/distress” (Mikulincer, Birnbaum, Woddies & Nachmias, 2000; Mikulincer, Gillath & Shaver, 2002). The attachment
