Loess (wind blown sediments)- a fine-grained unstratified accumulation of clay and silt deposited by the wind. Reservoir Effect (holding of carbon longer than expected)- Distortions in the radiocarbon age of samples derived from environments where samples from a particular carbon reservoir may not be in complete equilibrium with the atmosphere, so that their normalized isotope ratio is not the same as that of contemporaneous terrestrial wood. Libby Half Life, 5,700 years (Close enough)-developed radiocarbon dating(Libby) uses naturally occurring radioisotope carbon-14 to estimate the age of materials up to about 58,000 to 62,000 years old. Isotopes 12, 13, 14- is the more stable of the two elements found in carbon accounting for 98.89% of carbon. It contains 6 nuetrons 6 protons and 6 electrons. it is used as the standard from which atomic masses of all nuclides are measured.
