INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE In today’s competitive business world, many organizations find it necessary to have professionals more effective in communication. Apart from basic understanding of day to day communication it is essential for students to know the nuances of formal business communication which would not only help them score over their counterparts in terms of placements but also enhance chances of promotion. The purpose of this course is to provide key understanding to upcoming managers in applying a universal process that helps them solve communication problems, now and throughout their entire career. The course also focuses on imparting specific techniques and organizational strategies to be effective in Group Discussions and Presentations. To  achieve these goals, a  range of teaching methods will  be used including the lecture method, group projects, quizzes, practical exercises, role plays, demonstrations etc. Business cases that form a unique teaching methodology in management education will also be used to help students understand the function of communication in the modern business world. Guest lectures will be organized from time to time to enrich the scope of learning. Students will actively analyse real-life business problems and determine how to communicate effectively. FOLLOWING ARE THE KEY ELEMENTS OF THE MODULE 1) Communication Foundations 2) Types of Formal Oral Communication. 3) Role of Listening and Non Verbal Cues 4) Conversation Skills : Doing it the right way. 5) Group Discussions: Methods and Strategies. 6) Presentation Strategies. 7) Writing applications and emails ON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THIS MODULE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO : Understanding the process of communication that helps solve communication problems now and throughout. their career. Understanding the basics and types of formal oral business communication. Utilizing the knowledge about listening methodology and non-verbal cues in making communication effective. Learning the nuances of Group Discussions and Presentations along with an introduction to Interviews. Understanding the dramatic changes in the field with extensive use of case based methodology Learning to write grammatically correct applications and emails . PRE- REQUISITES Basic understanding of English language
