This article is about an investment bank called Merrill Lynch who refused to promote and terminated Borumand, an Iranian Muslim, because of his religion and national origin. The Bank refused to promote him from quantitative analyst and instead hired an Individual who was less qualified to do the job. Borumand received 1,550,000 from the suit, and Merrill Lynch had to agree to a contract that stated that the bank will no longer discriminate against employees and will not retaliate against those who oppose it. They are also obligated to integrate training for the employees monitored by the Civil Rights Commission. The article doesn’t clearly explain why the Civil Rights Commission thought the bank was discriminating, however; I believe that reason they came to the conclusion that Mr. Borumand was fired because of discrimination was because the bank had no proper
