Formatting output with HTML All HTML formatting tags can be used to  format the output by a document.write  command. Placement of tags: Inside the quotation marks  of the document.write(“  ....  ”) You cannot format output in functions like  alert, prompt and confirm() sort of : you CAN use  \n  and \t      for inserting  whitespace
