1) Varzi talks about some of the many ways in which Iranian youth in the 1990s and 2000s began to creatively confront and contest the rules established and enforced by political elites. What were some of these struggles and forms of resistance? How were the experiences and forms of resistance of boys and girls, young men and young women, different? Similar? Provide and write about 3 specific examples from Warring Souls . The rules and restrictions regarding the youth in Iran have caused many struggles and hardships. The government found the youth as a threat, so in an effort to control them, rules and restrictions were created. There was a moral panic in the government regarding the youth. The Iranian youth (ages 25 and under) takes up two thirds of the whole population, around 47 million of the 70 million Iranians are considered youth. With so many young people in Iran, the government was nervous. With grand ideas of extravagence and decadence in Western countries , the government created rules and regulations that were closely monitered in order
