Xiaojun Shu Section 3 MComm 320 Initial Writing Assessment Differences Between My L ife in China and t he United States INTRODUCTION Differences between my life in China and United States (Utah) are quite obvious in many ways. This is my second semester in BYU and the United States. To me, the United States is still so fresh. I still need to figure out so many things. During the last semester so many things changed in my life due to the differences between the two countries. Some of the changes which have occurred are the following: (a) culture, (b) food, (c) my study habits. Culture The first difference is culture. As a student from China, which is a quite traditional country, we are taught the importance of respecting our elders, such as our parents. Most children in China strive hard to earn money because of the heavy burden which is placed upon them. The Chinese naturally think it is the children’s responsibility to take care of parents when they get old. The Chinese would rather choose a major that
