IST 195 – Student Guide for Laboratory Session Creating a Webpage using Expression of MS Office 2010 Student Handout – IST 195 Lab Session Title of lab: Creating a webpage using Microsoft Expression Web 4 Learning goal: Student will attain the basic skills necessary to create a simple web page using Expression. They will learn how to embed a form into the page and to have the results of the form sent to an identified email account. The form skills will include the ability to use radio buttons, text fields, drop-down boxes and optionally check-boxes. The student will also learn how to use JavaScript in order to validate a form field General instructions: Please pay careful attention to your lab instructor’s description of this lab session. Make sure to take notes on any key pieces of information (such as URLs) that you will need to complete the lab. The web page will contain a form as defined in the materials.The page will contain a form that contains simple text headings and a form that uses radio buttons, drop down options and an area that collects text input. The name fields will be validated by JavaScript. The output of the form will be mailed to your email account, and displayed on the web page. This file must be saved and submitted as well. To achieve an A-level grade on the lab, you will additionally have to include the following in your electronic submission: The web form will contain a check box form fields. To complete the lab, please follow these steps Creating a Web Page (containing a form) with Microsoft Expression Your goal for today is to create a web page that provides similar features to the one shown on the next page. You may change the Page Title (the area in the Blue Browser Bar), the Page Heading (perhaps you would like a different font or color), or you may change the instructions to something entirely different. Please leave the questions and answers and selection methodology (radio buttons, DropDown, TextBox, etc,) just as you see them. We’ll modify the form so the results are sent to your email account. For “A” level work your form will contain Question 4 and allow multiple check boxes. Good Luck, and ask for help if you need it!!! 1

Open Microsoft Expression Web by selecting: Start >> All Programs >> Microsoft Expression >> Microsoft Expression Web 4 Note : When you open the program, you might be prompted with the below message. To get past this, uncheck the box “Always perform this check with starting Expression Web” and then select “No”. 2. Go to File >> Save As and save the blank page to your Desktop with the file
