Unformatted text preview: IST 195 – Week 10, Lecture 1 – Cryptography and Steganography Professor Jeff Rubin • This is a letter of recommendation I asked my former boss to write one day: While working with Mr. Rubin, I have always found him working studiously and sincerely at his desk without idling or gossiping with colleagues in the office. He seldom wastes his time on useless things. Given a job, he always finishes his given assignment on time. He is always deeply engrossed in his work, and can never be found chitchatting in the lounge. He has absolutely no vanity in spite of his accomplishments and profound knowledge of his field. I think that he can easily be classified as outstanding, and should on no account be dispensed with. I strongly feel that Mr. Rubin should be hired by your firm, and all other applicants should be sent away as soon as possible. Steganography Example Steganography Hides a message inside something else, thereby making the message non- obvious Steganography Example • The sad truth is, I suspect my boss sent a follow-up to the companies where I applied for a job, that said something like this: Mr. Rubin was in my office when I wrote the first note.
