1Lecture 25Herbal RecipeA copy of the frst edition (1597) of John Gerard’s famous herbal (The Herball or Generall Historic of Plantes) is in the Purdue Library (now in the manuscript case of the Pharmacy Library). In this copy there are 4 handwritten pages (in 2 different hands) found in the back of this book with various herbal recipes. These are in a “17th century handwriting” and the spelling is “peculiar” as is customary for this period.Three pages of this material have been duplicated, which contain the following prescriptions listed below.
