Describe the processes involved in cellular protein synthesis. How would synthesis be affected by intake of an otherwise adequate diet that is very low in glycine or low in tryptophan? How would synthesis be affected by a diet that is low in energy? 2. List the reasons why people take protein supplements. What are the risks involved in taking protein supplements? What population should NOT take supplements? Protein is an essential part of the human body. Without protein, growth and repair of muscles would be constricted. Also the body would lack the enzymes and hormones necessary to carry out simple metabolic functions. Protein aids in the fight against infections as the ingestion of proteins has been proven to aid in the creation of antibodies. Finally, protein aids in clotting of the blood as well as aiding the body in repairing itself. Through analysis of cellular protein synthesis one will see that
