The software is widely used in many of science and engineering fields. MATLAB is an interactive program for numerical computation, data visualization, technical computing. MATLAB is supported on UNIX, Macintosh and Windows environments. MATLAB integrates mathematical computing, visualization, and a powerful language to provide a flexible environment for technical computing. Mathematical computing - constructing numerical solutions and using computers to analyze and solve scientific and engineering problems Visualization (imagination) - Visualizing refers to our ability to create pictures in our heads based on text we read or words we hear. It is one of many skills that make reading comprehension possible. Technical computing - Technical computing is the application of the mathematical and computational principles of scientific computing to solve practical problems of industrial interest. Examples:- Electrical circuit analysis, Kirchhoff’s current law states that i 1 + i 2 + i 3 = 0 – ( i 1 + i 2 + i 3) = 0 i 1 + i 2 – i 3 = 0 i 1 – i 2 – i 3 + i 4 + i 5 – i 6 = 0 Control system management A control system is an interconnection of components forming a system configuration that will provide a desired system response (dynamic system, kinetic system), ( a ) Man-made control systems ( b ) Natural, including biological-control systems ( c ) Control systems whose components are both man-made and natural. Advance mathematical computing(numerical analysis base problems, Deferential equation based problems) etc. Technical computing may involve the use of large-scale high-performance supercomputers , but in most cases, the technical problems may be solvable using modern laptops or small servers . The open architecture makes it easy to use MATLAB and its companion products to explore data, create algorithms and create custom tools, that provide early insights and competitive advantages. Known for its highly optimized matrix and vector calculations, MATLAB offers an intuitive language for expressing problems and their solutions both mathematically and visually. Vector: A vector of dimension n is an ordered collection of n elements, which are called components.

Examples If A = (-2, 1) and B = (-2, 1), then A = B since -2 = -2 and 1 = 1. However, (5, 3) not_equal (3, 5) because even though they have the same components, 3 and 5, the component do not occur in the same order. Row Vector A vector is a row or column of elements. In a row vector, the elements are entered with a space or a comma between the elements inside the square brackets. For example, x = [7 –1 2 –5 8]. Column Vector In a column vector, the elements are entered with a semicolon between the elements inside the square brackets. For example, x = [7; –1; 2; –5; 8].
