Anthony Cavallaro GEOG 1700.003 February 23, 2009 Exercise 5: Who Needs Democracy? Democracy is an excellent form of government that is greatly desired by many nations. It provides its people with equal right and allows everyone the opportunity to participate in the practices of government. "The first principle is that all members of the society (citizens) have equal access to power and the second that all members (citizens) enjoy universally recognized freedoms and liberties." For this reason, nations such as Argentina would greatly benefit from the conversion of their system of government to a democracy. While the process itself would be a great undertaking, its advantages would greatly outweigh the investment required. The people of Argentina have dealt with a

As one person refers to it, it is the ‘strongman’ ruling that has made life in South America so hard for many of its people. Finally, just over 25 years ago, Argentina has been getting a taste of Democracy. The people value the newfound openness and the ability to express concerns without fear of consequence from the government.
