EMA 4121 Interfacial Engineering Homework 8 Solutions 1. (i). E-glass fiber filled polyester composite. Polyester is one of the most widely used polymer matrix for composite systems due to its relatively good mechanical performance & versatile processability. E-glass fibers provide high strength due to its brittle nature. The addition of glass fibers increases the stiffness of the matrix polyesterand thus gives rise to better mechanical integrity. (ii). Hydroxyapatite particles reinforced collagen matrix (natural bone).
