158-EC1 Manual Addendum V: Procedure V-1: No change from the manual V-2: For one of the resistors make a series of measurements of V for various values of I. You must take at least 5 data points. You can vary I by adjusting the output voltage of the power supply. Keep R 1 fixed at 100  For the report you will plot this data. Remove the resistor you were measuring, and replace it with the Silicon diode. Make sure that the positive electrode of the diode is connected to the positive terminal of the power supply via R 1 . Ask your TA if you do not understand this. Set R 1 to 30 . Record the current I for the following approximate voltage values: V = 0.20, 0.40, 0.50, 0.60, 0.65, 0.70, 0.71, 0.72, 0.73, 0.74, and 0.75 Volts For the report this data will be plotted. V-3through V-5: No change from the manual VI: For the Report VI-1: Tabulate the data taken in V-1 to include V, I and R m . For each resistor measured in V-1 you should report the voltage, current, calculated resistance, the uncertainty in that calculated resistance and the measured resistance with the DVM. You may take the uncertainty in I to be ½
