For instance, knowing the properties of cognitive-behavioral (CBT) and existential-humanistic therapies can enhance their application and efficacy.In CBT, therapists collaborate with clients to establish and modify sources of negative thoughts, which allows the development of growth-based treatment goals. Wheeler (2014) acknowledges a prevalent use and study of CBT modalities due to its effectiveness in treating emotional and behavioral disorders. The underlying precept in the CBT model proposes that maladaptive thoughts can be modified to promote mental wellbeing (Spoont et al., 2013).
