IntroductionCommunication means to create a common understanding. Communication is an important aspect ofhuman behavior, an integral part of life. All human interactions are form of communication. In this businessworld, nothing can be achieved without effectively communicating with employers, employees, clients,suppliers, and customers Business all over the world today is very challenging. To stay profitable in thehighly challenging and competitive global market economy all factors at production (men, machine andmaterials), should be wisely managed. Among the factors of production, human resource constitutes thebiggest challenge because unlike inputs, employee management demands skillful handling of thoughts,feelings and emotions to secure highest productivity. Effective organizational communication plays animportant role in this challenge. The more effective the system of communication, the better is the relationbetween workers and the management. It is communication which gives life to the organization; so, it isrightly known as the life blood of an organization.Effective CommunicationEffective communication is the process of accurately forming a message, sending it and it being completelyunderstood by the recipients. Effective communication requires that verbal (spoken words) and nonverbal(body language, gestures and actions) agree with one another. For example, if a manager verbally says he isinterested in the employees' suggestions but never creates a way or opportunity for employees to expresstheir thoughts, the messages will contradict each other. This leads to confusion and frustration. Thepurpose of effective communication in the workplace is to provide clear objectives, tools to accomplishthose objectives and an action plan to follow. Providing clear direction increases employee satisfaction,which has a direct impact on customer satisfaction, according to morebusinesss.com. It also creates astrong corporate culture where employees trust leadership and feel like they have a voice, according toAlliance Training and Consulting. For example: if leader effectively communicates with employees certaingoals and expectations, the employees will be able to accomplish the goals with a sense of completion.Effective communication in the workplace provides purpose and reward when the purpose is fulfilled.
