Solving Trig Equations Tips
2.
Questions on our review?
I saw on our quiz that solving trig equations was a bit of a struggle.
I want to offer
some tips, and go over both problems.
Tips
1.
When in doubt, it is never a bad idea to set the equation equal to zero, factor one
side as much as you can, and then use the zero product property to split it up.
2.
NEVER divide both sides by a trig function.
You will miss solutions doing that.
Instead, set the equation equal to zero and factor.
Examples (both of these questions were from the quiz, one from each version)
