There is no specifc defnition oF religion; religare (Latin) - to “tie/bind” to “join/reconnect” Religion was frst studied as a category oF thinking in the west, while others thought oF it just as a way oF liFe. Western thinkers thought you needed a god and a sacred text, however, there are many ancient religions that didn ʼ t have this. “Christianity believes. ..” is not proper, it is the people that believe what they do and everyone has diFFerent views, along with the many diFFerent types oF christianity. W.C. Smith - challenges the notion oF some ʻ essence ʼ oF religion instead - religious people he preFerred the terms ʻ Faith ʼ and ʻ traditions ʼ can believers recognize themselves in your description? iF you are describing a religion to someone who practices this religion, and there is a disconnect, the outsider is wrong. However, that person may not know everything about their religion. Comparative study oF religions, not about which one is “best”
