Traditional, Sacramental Outlook on Marriage: - patriarchal, hetero-normative (homosexual relations are an aberration; homophobia occurs in those societies) - size of families decline, and women become freer to work outside the home, and they require more money outside out their partners - drive became in the feminist movement was equal pay for equal work - this has never really taken off (but has improved), because women’s pay was supplementary to what men’s pay was - a man should be able to bring home enough pay to look after himself, his wife and his children - anything that a woman makes is on top of this - nowadays, two salaries are required to raise a family in the middle class - in this case, women’s salaries as supplemental are not enough - women also need the right to an education that will bring them to the same professional status as men - we also think that sexual rights should be equal to males - acceptance of birth control allows women to achieve a life that is not constantly interrupted by pregnancies - The Way We Mate: important as it has to do with the raising of children and the next generation, the responsibilities that we (as human beings) take in creating a desirable context in which the next
