Megan Michels Dr. Conway COMS 460 November 1, 2010 Senior Project Critique #3 Kristy Askling’s project, “Recognizing and Reporting Elder Financial Abuse: A Communication Based Training Seminar for Bank Employees” is an applied, performance/handbook senior project in which Askling created a training seminar and handbook for bank employees to learn to report elder financial abuse. This senior project was advised by Dr. Fahs, and was completed in 2000. This project stemmed from an internship that Askling had with the District Attorney’s Office in the Victims and Awareness Assistance Center in San Luis Obispo. The purpose of this project was to create a training program for bank employees to learn how to better recognize and report elderly financial abuse. She created a communication based training seminar geared towards employees of financial institutions, using interactive discussions, activities, and quizzes to instruct the trainees about proper communication with elderly customers.
