page 2 For the Gender Role Assignment, I interview a 37-year-old married male, who works full- time as the Supply Room Lead person at a company that manufactures hardwood flooring. He married his first wife at the age of 16 and divorced 8 years later, with no children from the marriage. He did marry again until he was 32 years old. In this assignment, I will describe how my life would have been different if I had been born a male instead of female, based off this male’s description of his life from childhood to present day. As a child, I would have been given action figures, Hot Wheels cars, footballs and basketballs to play with, instead of Barbie dolls, baby dolls, baby carriage, kitchen sets and “dress-up” outfits. My toys would have been geared to reinforce the roles of protector and of strength, instead of female roles of nurturer, mother, wife, and homemaker. I would have collected baseball cards and comic books of superheroes. These collections are geared towards sports and encouraged dreams of being a superhero, which would protect and save the damsels in distress. During my free time, my friends, whom were all male, and I would ride our bicycles all over
