Why do we have Asian Markets? Immigrants settled and became domestic servants, housekeepers, and ran food stores, laundry, antique shops, jewelers, and imported goods stores. They provided jobs to Asian workers when jobs were scarce.

Immigrants, people of Asian descent, and other people who like Asian food found it very troublesome and expensive to have things shipped overseas to them. These small businesses sprouted everywhere that supplied these customers with Asian goods.

Why do we have Asian Restaurants? Immigrants can feel closer to home when eating food they’re used to. Everybody enjoys Asian food, not just those of Asian descent; cooking food from their homelands made them a decent living.
